8th International Tracheostomy Symposium

The 8th International Tracheostomy Symposium will be held virtually on November 1-2. We planning an innovative two-day program that brings together thought leaders for interactive sessions and scientific innovation. The program will feature the latest technology, patient and family perspectives, and state-of-the-art presentations on the management of the patients with tracheostomies. This is the premier event for tracheostomy specialists, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, patients, and families to grow and learn together. We hope you will join us! 

Target Audience: Practicing Clinicians, Proceduralists, Interventional Fellows, Simulation Experts, and other Health Professionals and Learners


Call for Abstracts! 

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Step 1: Create Abstract Submission

  • This will take you to Oxford Abstracts
  • Required fields are denoted by a red asterisk (*).

Step 2: Author and Affiliation(s) Information

  • Complete the author and affiliation information for each presenting author

Step 3: Presentation Type

  • Please indicate if you are submitting your abstract for oral presentation, poster presentation or either.
    • If selected for oral presentation, the presenter must record their presentation and upload to Oxford Abstract Management System by October 1st, 2024. This will be used as a backup in case of technical issues or if the presenter is in a different time zone and is unable to present. It is preferred that the presenter be present live for the whole presentation. However, if unable to present, the presenter must make attempts to join the question-and-answer session after their recorded presentation has been played.
    • If selected for poster presentation, the presenter must upload their poster via PowerPoint to Oxford Abstract Management System by October 1st, 2024. In addition, the presenters are also requested to record a short presentation and upload it to the Oxford Abstract Management System by October 1st, 2024. More details will be provided upon selection.

Step 4: Number of Presenters

  • Please indicate if this submission will have a single presenter or a group of presenters
    • Single presenter option is for those who will be presenting solely.
    • Group presenter option is for those who plan to present as panelists. All presenters must register for the symposium.

Step 5: Categories

  • Plenary: This option is intended for keynote speakers and inspirational talks relevant to tracheostomy care.
  • Patient and family: This option is intended for talks related to patients and family audience
  • Database: This option is intended for talks related to the use of Global Tracheostomy Collaborative Database to improve tracheostomy outcomes
  • Scientific session – Adult: This option is intended for any quality improvement, evidence-based projects, research, review of literature, or interesting case studies related to individuals 18+ years of age
  • Scientific session – Pediatrics: This option is intended for any quality improvement, evidence-based projects, research, review of literature, or interesting case studies related to newborns to 18 years of age

Step 6: ABSTRACT CONTENT

  • Fill in each of the fields for
    • Title
      • The title should be entered in field and contain 15 words or less.
    • No images or tables will be accepted.
    • Introduction/Background
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusion
    • Implication
    • Total word limit is 300 words

Step 7: Permission to Publish

  • Global Tracheostomy Collaborative would like to request your permission to publish your abstract (if chosen) in the Tracheostomy Journal. Please check the box to indicate your permission to publish.

Step 8: Author Approval

  • Please confirm that this submission has been approved by all authors by checking the box

Step 9: Author Attendance

  • Please check the box to confirm that all authors listed will register for the conference and present at the conference.
  • Please do not include names of authors who will not register for the conference

Step 10: Click Submit

  • Please review the submission
  • Click Submit.

Acceptance
The submitting author will be notified via email of the submission’s acceptance or rejection by June 2024. Please ensure that the first author’s email address is included with the submission. All notifications and correspondence will be directed to the first author. It is the responsibility of the submitting author to confirm that all author email addresses are current at the time of submission to ensure that any notifications sent by Global Tracheostomy Collaborative are received. All decisions made by the Program Committee are final.

Nomination-Based Awards
On acceptance, your abstract or case report may be considered for an award. Abstract- and case-report-based awards are given to the first author of the abstract or case report. All authors of an abstract or case report will be notified if their submission receives an award.

 


Important Dates

  • February 5, 2024: Submission period opens
  • March 15, 2024: Submission period closes (To allow enough time for selection and application to obtain CME/CE credits)
  • April 10, 2024: Scientific Abstract review completed
  • May 15, 2024: Program finalized
  • June 2024: Notification of submission acceptance sent electronically to first author
  • July 2024: International Tracheostomy Symposium registration opens
  • November 1-2, 2024: Virtual 8th International Tracheostomy Symposium
